Training during the initial days of bringing home your puppy is crucial to deter undesirable behaviors and aggression.
We've compiled five puppy training tips to assist you in having an enjoyable and positive experience as a puppy parent!
Training puppies can be difficult, as certain methods may be ineffective and even exacerbate problems. With over ten years of experience in breeding puppies, we have discovered what techniques are successful and which ones are not.
Puppies are highly intelligent and can quickly pick up bad habits like biting. With proper training from the start, many of these bad habits can be avoided.
we have compiled a list of puppy training tips to simplify the process for you.
Tip 1 - Don't use fear as a training method
Employing fear as a training technique can result in significant aggression that is difficult to reverse.
A strong bond with your puppy starts with trust.
Training becomes simpler when you have your puppy's trust, and employing fear, like spanking, will damage that trust.
instead use the tips below to train your puppy.
Tip 2 - use positive reinforcement to train your puppy
you can use treats or your puppy's kibble to reinforce good behavior and teach your puppy cute tricks.
Another way to provide positive reinforcement is by verbally praising your puppy while petting them simultaneously; they will quickly understand that you approved of their good behavior.
and the third way to reward them is by give them their favorite toy after they give you a desired behavior.
Tip 3 - don't pull away when your puppy bites your hand
It may appear that withdrawing is the correct action, but this actually exacerbates the situation, as your puppy will perceive your hand as a toy.
Consequently, they will be even more inclined to bite your hand. As I previously mentioned, hitting your puppy is not advisable, as it can lead to aggressive behavior.
so, what should you do instead?
If your puppy bites you, gently use your hand to press down on the back of their tongue. As long as you don't apply too much pressure, this won't harm your puppy, but it will discourage them from biting.
also note:
If you have children, it's crucial to teach them this because if your puppy bites your child and the child begins to yell and run away, it will become even more entertaining for your puppy. They will learn they can control your children, which might lead to aggressive behavior.
Tip 4 - crate train your puppy
crate training your puppy will make house training a lot easier.
To elaborate on crate training, it instructs your puppy not to relieve themselves in their crate, helping them understand the concept of bladder control,
therefore, making house training easier.
some of our puppies are already well started in crate training.
Tip 5 - how to stop a puppy from chewing a shoe
If your puppy enjoys chewing on your shoe, you can deter this behavior by striking the shoe firmly on the ground and saying "BAD SHOE" or "NO". This will teach them not to bite shoes without causing any harm to your puppy.
In Conclusion
Regardless of whether you are intentional, you are still training your puppy, which can be positive or negative depending on the habits you exhibit around your puppy.
so be intentional with the time you dedicate with your puppy, and you will have a great bond with your fury friend.
